First Epistle of Peter

April 19, 2026

The letter of 1 Peter is written to Christians who feel out of place. Scattered across different regions and facing pressure, opposition, and uncertainty, these believers are described as elect exiles. They belong to God, but they live in a world that does not share their values, their hope, or their identity. In this series, we walk verse by verse through 1 Peter to see how the gospel shapes life in the middle of that tension. Peter reminds us that our identity is not rooted in our circumstances, our culture, or our past, but in the work of God. The Father has chosen us, the Spirit is at work in us, and Jesus has cleansed us and brought us near. Because of that, we are called to live differently. This letter speaks directly into real life. It addresses suffering, rejection, fear, and the daily challenge of following Jesus in a world that often pushes back. It also shows us what it looks like to live with hope, to pursue holiness, and to reflect the character of Christ in every area of life. As we study 1 Peter together, we will see that being an exile is not something to avoid. It is part of what it means to belong to Jesus. And in that identity, we find a living hope that cannot be shaken.
