Book: 1 Peter

Scripture: 1 Peter 2:4-10

In 1 Peter 2:4-10, Peter describes Jesus as the cornerstone upon which the entire people of God are built. Though rejected by the world, Jesus is chosen and precious in the sight of God, and all who trust in Him are brought into a new identity and a new family.

This sermon explores what it means to come to Jesus not merely as a teacher or example, but as the living cornerstone of life itself. Clay explains how believers are now being built together into a spiritual house, united as God’s people and called to proclaim His excellencies to the world.

Peter also draws heavily from the imagery of the Old Testament to show how the promises once given to Israel are ultimately fulfilled in Christ and extended to all who believe. Through Jesus, believers become a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and a people belonging to God.

At the heart of this passage is the mercy of God. Those who once stood outside His family, rebellious and lost, are now welcomed through the grace of Christ and given a new purpose and identity.

This message calls believers to trust fully in Jesus as their cornerstone and to live as people shaped by His mercy and grace.
