Book: 1 Peter

In 1 Peter 2:11-17, Peter addresses one of the central challenges of the Christian life: how believers are to live in a world that is not their true home.

As citizens of God’s kingdom, Christians are called to live as exiles and sojourners in the world. This means resisting the sinful desires that seek to pull us away from Christ while actively seeking the good of the people and places where God has placed us.

This sermon explores how believers are called to engage culture faithfully. Jared explains that Christians are not called to conform to the world around them, nor to retreat from it. Instead, they are called to live honorable lives that reflect the character of Jesus and point others toward Him.

Peter also addresses the difficult topic of submission to governing authorities. While Christians ultimately submit to God above all else, they are called to honor earthly authorities, seek peace, and live in a way that silences false accusations through faithful obedience and good works.

This passage reminds believers that they are ambassadors of a greater kingdom, called to represent Christ through both their conduct and their love for others.
