Born Again to Love

Book: 1 Peter

Scripture: 1 Peter 1:21-2:3

In 1 Peter 1:22-2:3, Peter shows that the new birth produces a new kind of love. Those who have been purified by the gospel and born again through the living word of God are called to love one another earnestly and sincerely.

This sermon explores how Christian love flows out of the transforming power of the gospel. Clay explains that believers are not simply called to appear loving outwardly, but to genuinely care for one another from a pure heart. This means putting away malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander, attitudes that destroy trust and community.

Peter also reminds believers that spiritual growth comes through longing for the pure spiritual milk of the gospel. The Christian life is not sustained by self-improvement or religious performance, but by continually returning to the good news of what Jesus has done.

This passage calls believers to taste and see that the Lord is good, and to allow the goodness of Christ to shape the way they love, serve, and relate to one another in the church.
