Series: Colossians

Book: Colossians

Scripture: Colossians 4:5-18

In Colossians 4:5–18, Paul concludes his letter with both instruction and encouragement, showing how the gospel shapes everyday life and the mission of the church.

This sermon explores Paul’s call to walk in wisdom toward outsiders, to make the most of every opportunity, and to speak with grace that reflects the goodness of God. Sharing the gospel is not about following a script, but about faithfully living and speaking in a way that points people to Jesus.

Clay also highlights the many individuals Paul mentions at the end of the letter. These names remind us that the church is not a program or an organization, but a community of people with different stories, gifts, and roles, all working together for the sake of the gospel.

From faithful servants and encouragers, to those who needed restoration, to those who labored in prayer, we see a picture of what it means to truly be the church.

This passage calls us to live on mission together, to use our time wisely, and to trust that God works through ordinary people to accomplish His purposes.

At the center of it all is grace. The same grace that saves us is the grace that sustains us and sends us.
