Longing for the Gospel

Book: 1 Peter

Scripture: 1 Peter 1:10-12

In 1 Peter 1:10-12, Peter reminds believers that the salvation they now experience is part of a story that has been unfolding throughout all of history. The prophets spoke of it, searched for it, and longed to understand it, yet they were serving a future generation who would see its fulfillment in Jesus.

This sermon explores how the entire Bible points to Christ. Clay explains that the gospel is not simply a set of teachings or principles, but the announcement of what Jesus has done in history. His life, death, and resurrection are the center of God’s redemptive plan.

Peter also highlights the wonder of this salvation by showing that even angels long to understand it. The grace given to sinners through Jesus is so profound that it draws the attention of all creation.

This message invites us to step back and see the bigger picture. Our lives are not isolated moments, but part of a greater story that God is telling. And at the center of that story is Jesus, the one who rescues, redeems, and restores.
