Steadfast Prayer

Series: Colossians

Book: Colossians

Scripture: Colossians 4:2-4

In Colossians 4:2-4, Paul calls believers to a life marked by steadfast, watchful, and thankful prayer. But this is not simply instruction about a spiritual discipline. It is an invitation into relationship with God.

This Easter Sunday message explores what prayer really is. Jared explains that prayer is not about performance, repetition, or saying the right words. It is about communicating personally with our Heavenly Father, the God who has saved us and brought us near through Jesus.

This passage also shows what should shape our prayers. We are called to be watchful, aware of what God is doing in our lives and in the world around us. We are called to give thanks for His goodness. And we are called to pray for opportunities to share the gospel and for clarity when we speak about Christ.

At the heart of this message is the gospel itself. Because of Jesus’ death and resurrection, we now have access to God. What was once closed off because of sin has been opened through Christ. He is our mediator, and through Him we can draw near with confidence.

This sermon reminds us that prayer is not a burden to carry, but a gift to receive. It is the ongoing conversation of a relationship made possible by Jesus.
