Book: Colossians

Scripture: Colossians 1:15-20

Colossians 1:15–20 presents one of the clearest and richest descriptions of Jesus in all of Scripture. In this sermon, Clay walks through Paul’s words to show that Jesus is not a created being or one option among many, but the eternal Son of God through whom all things were made and in whom all things hold together.

This passage was written to a church facing theological confusion and cultural pressure to redefine who Jesus is. Paul responds by pointing them to the truth about Christ. Jesus is the visible image of the invisible God, the Creator and Sustainer of the universe, and the head of the church. He is also the Redeemer who willingly gave His life to reconcile sinners to God and make peace through the cross.

This sermon helps us see why understanding who Jesus truly is shapes everything else in the Christian life, including worship, obedience, hope, and joy. It invites us to trust Christ fully, live under His authority, and rejoice in the peace He has secured for us.
